Lake Afton Flying Field

Lake Afton Park is located west of Wichita and south of Goddard at 25313 W. 39th St. South and is governed and controlled by Sedgwick County Parks Dept. The flying field is located on the west side of the lake and has been open
to the public for sport and hobby model flying since 1985. In 1992 the
Wichita Radio Control Club erected a field shelter and donated it to the park.
Electricity is available in the shelter. Afton
has a 500' x 30' asphalt runway
The County requires that all flyers provide proof of insurance on demand. AMA membership fulfills this requirement. Field rules are posted on the west side of the flying field shelter.
County requires that all vehicles entering the park have either a $5.00 day permit or a $30.00 annual County Park pass. These are available at the entrance to the park off of 39th street.
The field is open for flying year round, 9 A.M. to dusk, except for times of scheduled events, such as Car shows, Go-cart Races, and sanctioned flying events. From the Wichita Mid-Continent Airport take US-54 / 400 highway (Kellogg street) approximately 12 miles west to 263rd Street West (Look for mile marker 199). Turn south and travel 3 miles to the stop light. Turn east 1/2 mile to the Park Entrance and south 1/2 mile to the Flying Field.
