Lake Afton Park is located west of Wichita and south of Goddard at 25313 W. 39th St. South and is governed and controlled by Sedgwick County Parks Dept. The flying field is located on the west side of the lake and has been open to the public for sport and hobby model flying since 1985. In 1992 the Wichita Radio Control Club erected a field shelter and donated it to the park.
Afton has a 500' x 30' asphalt runway

The County requires that all flyers provide proof of insurance on demand. AMA membership fulfills this requirement. Field rules are posted on the west side of the flying field shelter.

County requires that all vehicles entering the park have either a $5.00 day permit or a $30.00 annual County Park pass. These are available at the entrance to the park off of 39th street.

The field is open for flying year round, 9 A.M. to dusk, except for times of scheduled events, such as Car shows, Go-cart Races, and sanctioned flying events. For more information check the WRCC Calendar or the Lake Afton Park website . You may telephone Lake Afton Park at (315)794-2774 for more up to date information on events that might prevent model flying.
